I'm Kenneth Calamay, a backend-focused engineer working primarily with Elixir, Phoenix, and LiveView.
I know the friction of software that carries day-to-day operations: approvals shift, rules collect exceptions, and changing policies often demand pragmatic decisions over textbook-perfect designs.
I know the value of looking beyond the familiar. Teams across continents and travel bring new perspectives; spiritual seeking keeps me grounded, reflective, and open to deeper questions.

Tools change, but the standard does not. I remain responsible for software that is clear, correct, maintainable, and dependable—work teammates can understand and users can trust long after it ships.

Better tools sometimes require a different way of thinking. I moved from Ruby's object-oriented world to Elixir's functional, concurrent model when I saw a better direction for the work.
Stay willing to relearn
AI-assisted development changed what gives me a sense of achievement. It once came from the quality of the code I wrote; now it comes from sound judgment, strong collaboration, and delivering better software with the tools available.
